What is a Donor-Advised Fund?

A Donor-Advised Fund is a tax-advantaged giving vehicle administered by a sponsoring organization. You contribute assets to your DAF, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to nonprofit organizations of your choice such as Food Connect.

Consider recommending a grant to make a general, fully tax deductible donation to Food Connect. By recommending a gift to Food Connect through your DAF, you can amplify your impact today while planning for long-term generosity.

What DAF gifts can’t be used for
According to IRS rules and many DAF sponsor policies, grants from a Donor-Advised Fundcannotbe used to pay for certain things, including: Fundraising event tickets, tables, or memberships that include non-charitable benefits or goods (unless you decline all such goods or benefits), goods or services received in return for your gift.

‍If in doubt, decline any benefits or goods, or contact your DAF sponsor or Food Connect for guidance.

How to make a gift to Food Connect via your DAF

Log in to your DAF sponsor’s portal
If your donor-advised fund uses an online giving platform, search for "Food Connect Co' by legal name to recommend a grant.

Food Connect is registered on DAFpay so you can complete the grant request directly online through that tool.
Tell us about your gift
To ensure proper acknowledgment, please let us know (via email giftaccounting@foodconnectgroup.com or other contact) when a grant has been recommended in our name, and any special designations or instructions you have.
