Greater Newark Regional Program Manager

The Regional Program Manager leads day-to-day program execution in Greater Newark, ensuring programs are delivered effectively, consistently, and in alignment with Food Connect’s strategic priorities. The role manages local partnerships and coordination to support strong implementation while integrating community input into program operations. This position balances hands-on program management with cross-functional collaboration to ensure Food Connect’s impact is operationally strong, accountable, and responsive to community needs. This role will initially report to the VP of Impact, until the expected hiring of the Greater Newark Regional Director.

$75,000 - $82,000

About the role

Responsibilities

Program Operations & Logistics

  • Oversee daily food rescue, delivery, and distribution operations across Greater Newark programs.
  • Support pilot projects and programs focused on innovative food systems impact and research
  • Work with logistics team to support driver workforce scheduling, dispatch, and performance to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Track and analyze program data (deliveries, pounds of food, partner reach) to ensure KPIs are met.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges in real time, maintaining high standards of quality and dignity in service delivery supporting the logistics team.
  • Collaborate with the national operations team to align processes, technology, and reporting

Partnership & Community Engagement

  • Oversee and coordinate local partner, funder, and coalition engagement to support program delivery and regional priorities.
  • Manage day-to-day relationship workflows with food producers, donors, retailers, and community organizations to ensure alignment with operational capacity and program goals.
  • Plan and coordinate community meetings, events, and speaking engagements to support program execution, information-sharing, and feedback loops.
  • Work with advisory councils and stakeholder groups—in alignment with the VP of Impact—to integrate community input into operational planning, program implementation, and ongoing evaluation.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and oversee regular impact and performance reports that synthesize program metrics, operational challenges, and outcomes to support decision-making.
  • Monitor and support compliance with funder requirements, food safety standards, and internal operational protocols, escalating risks and gaps as needed.
  • Document and share operational insights and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement and inform Food Connect’s national strategy.
Candidate Qualifications and Traits
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in program management and proven program launch and execution required.
  • Proven ability to manage day-to-day operations and ensure programs run smoothly and effectively.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with experience representing an organization to external partners and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace, Excel/Sheets, Asana, Slack.
  • Resident of the Greater Newark metro area with knowledge of local communities;
  • Familiarity with the food system is a strong plus but not required.
  • Deep commitment to equity, community-driven solutions and service.
  • Ability to travel within the Greater Newark region for key stakeholder meetings.
