Development Associate

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Development Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience tracking grant activities, managing donor relations, supporting fundraising campaigns, maintaining records in a CRM, and using project management software to keep work organized and on track. This role reports to Food Connect’s Senior Development Manager and is critical to supporting our development team’s efforts to secure funding that fuels our programs and expands our impact.

$38/hr

Workday & Location

Part-Time, Contractor, 25 hours weekly (5 hours daily - Monday through Friday)

About the role

Responsibilities

Grantmaking Operations

  • Manage grant application and reporting schedules and deadlines
  • Identify, research, and recommend grant opportunities that align with Food Connect’s mission, values, programs, and locations
  • Generate materials for grant applications and reports such as funder profiles, application and report drafts, and required attachments
  • Assemble basic components of grant drafts using established narrative provided by department leadership

Data & Project Coordination

  • Utilize Neon CRM and spreadsheets to track and report on grants, individual donations, and fundraising campaigns
  • Provide regular updates and reports to leadership regarding fundraising progress, donor engagement, and other development activities
  • Utilize Asana to manage the development team’s tasks related to fundraising projects, funding deadlines, and other development activities
  • Collaborate within the development team to implement fundraising strategies and operationalize new
  • Work with development leadership to align fundraising activities and procedures with organizational goals and operations

Donor & Grantor Relations

  • Provide coordination of fundraising campaigns such as contact list management, scheduling, and progress reporting
  • Maintain donor and grantor records in Neon CRM with supreme accuracy
  • Assist in the cultivation of relationships with existing and prospective donors and grantors, including collaboration on email newsletters, generating donation acknowledgement letters, drafting solicitations, and supporting major gift activities
Candidate Qualifications and Traits

Experience

  • 2-3 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a sales related field
  • Proven experience using Neon CRM or similar for donor management and reporting
  • Proficiency in Asana or similar project management tools

Skills

  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and a systematic approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Collaborative teamwork with a positive attitude, curiosity, and a passion for Food Connect’s mission

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred but not required
