Food Connect would like to thank The Fruit Guys for the amazing partnership that started over a year ago during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fruit Guys, a certified B Corp, prioritizes social good as a part of its business practice with its core mission to support American farms and combat hunger. Since 1998, The Fruit Guys has been one of the most trusted providers of farm-fresh fruit, produce, and snacks to businesses, schools, and homes across the country. While headquartered in South San Francisco, they have key locations in major metro areas including Seattle, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Phoenix and of course Philadelphia.
Food Connect’s mission to bridge the gap between surplus and hunger fully align with The Fruit Guys in our circular economy approach, to help the local businesses while serving those in need in the community. Since 2020 through our partnership, we have been able to rescue nearly 31,000 pounds of fresh, locally sourced produce and nutritious food to community organizations in the greater Philadelphia region. Over 20 community organizations have received high quality produce and distributed to food insecure individuals and families that would otherwise not have access to. These recipient organizations focus on underrepresented, critically vulnerable communities serving the disabled, elderly, LGBTQ, at-risk youth and homeless families have expressed gratitude for these critical donations.
“The donated fruit was on time and was needed. The families enjoyed them. The bananas were fresh and the clients enjoyed it. They took more than one bunch,” Verna from Abiding Truth Ministries, an independent, non-denominational, Afro-bibliocentric church founded in 1992.
We look forward to our continued partnership with The Fruit Guys and all the great work ahead!
